(Central News Agency reporter Cao Ya-yan, New Taipei, 12th) To commemorate International Museum Day on May 18th, the New Taipei City Cultural Affairs Department announced that six public museums and the Lin Family Mansion and Garden will offer free admission on that day. Private museums, such as the Juming Museum, will also offer ticket discounts simultaneously.

The New Taipei City Cultural Affairs Department issued a press release today stating that 2026 has been designated as the 'New Taipei Cultural Friendship Year,' with dialogue, understanding, inclusion, and peace at its core, promoting museums as important cultural platforms for public and cross-ethnic exchange.

The Cultural Affairs Department pointed out that on May 18th, New Taipei City's public museums (Tamsui Historical Museum, Shisanhang Museum of Archaeology, Yingge Ceramics Museum, Gold Museum, Pinglin Tea Museum, Lin Family Mansion and Garden, New Taipei City Art Museum) will be open to the public for free admission; among them, the New Taipei City Art Museum will be free for all exhibition areas except special exhibitions.

Private museums, including Juming Museum and the Museum of World Religions, will also respond to Museum Day by offering ticket discounts from May 16th to 17th.

In addition, from May 16th to 18th, visitors who complete designated tasks at New Taipei public museums can receive limited edition small gifts and participate in a lucky draw for a chance to win a limited edition tote bag. Various museums will also launch multiple activities, including the Tamsui Historical Museum's 'Commanding Views, Historical Perspectives' guided tour focusing on the Danjiang Bridge; and the Lin Family Mansion and Garden's 'Lin Garden Explorer Team: Story Mission Challenge,' allowing the public to get closer to historical sites and history through interactive missions.

Director-General Chang Pei-yu of the Cultural Affairs Department stated that the 'New Taipei Cultural Friendship Year' will advance on both service and spatial fronts, continuously strengthening museums in aspects such as multilingual guided tours, accessible information, barrier-free services, environmental friendliness, and diverse ethnic group participation.
