(CNA, Taipei, May 12) The "Morning Heights String Quartet," composed of emerging Taiwanese musicians, has been invited for the first time to perform at the 2026 Eslite Chamber Music Festival. They will present "Departure," a work by talented Taiwanese composer Liang Chen, along with several classical quartet masterpieces, demonstrating their musical prowess.

The "Morning Heights Chamber Ensemble" was founded by cellist Huang Tzu-Wei, a winner of the "Eslite New Voice Audition Program." It brings together outstanding young Taiwanese musicians, dedicated to exploring a new balance in music and art between classical tradition and contemporary innovation. Huang Tzu-Wei, who currently works with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, has invited violinists Lu Yu-wen and Hsu Hsuan-hao, as well as violist Lin Chieh-yu, to collaborate, bringing their international performance experience back to Taiwan.

For their debut at the Eslite Chamber Music Festival, the Morning Heights String Quartet's program features Liang Chen's "Departure," expressing the anticipation and hope of actively embracing a new journey after separation, aiming to break the public's impression of contemporary music as being difficult. Other pieces include Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev's "String Quartet No. 2" and Johannes Brahms' "String Quartet No. 1."

The Eslite Chamber Music Festival series concerts also include: the Fifth Degree String Quartet's "Romantic Unending—Echoes Across Centuries" concert on May 16; the Yixin String Quartet's "Journey of the Giants Trilogy—Shostakovich's Century Monologue" concert on May 23; and the "European Supergroup Sweep—Arod String Quartet" concerts on May 29 and 30.

On June 7, the Morning Heights String Quartet will present the "Looking Up to Classics, Embracing New Sounds" concert; and on June 13, the "Korean Supergroup Returns—Novus String Quartet" concert will take place. All events will be held at the Eslite Performance Hall. (Edited by Henry Lee) 1150512
