(Central News Agency reporter Hsiao Po-yang, Nantou County 12th) The Puli Township Clean-up Team's management office was old and lacked air conditioning, making summers unbearable for staff. This year, the clean-up team launched a renovation project. After purchasing construction materials, team members skilled in ironwork, masonry, and plumbing built a new management office equipped with air conditioning and a water dispenser.

The Puli Township Clean-up Team had used a discarded community watch post as its management office for over 20 years. Team leader Chen Jun-hong stated that the original plan was to use a container house for renovation, but it faced issues of insufficient space and higher costs. Fortunately, several team members had professional skills in ironwork, masonry, formwork, and plumbing. After purchasing materials, the team members carried out the construction. The management office, originally planned to cost NT$350,000, was completed for less than NT$200,000.

The new management office was inaugurated today. Puli Township Mayor Liao Zhi-cheng and team members devoutly prayed for smooth operations and prompt removal of accumulated garbage. Team members expressed that the old office couldn't block wind or rain, was extremely stuffy in summer, and they had to go to the main office for drinking water. Now, with air conditioning and a water dispenser, they can quench their thirst, cool down, and reduce exposure to garbage odors, feeling very cared for.

Liao Zhi-cheng said that the clean-up team's garbage transfer station had poor environmental conditions due to large amounts of accumulated garbage, and the management office was also very dilapidated. Thanks to the skillful renovation by team members, it has been completely transformed, with air conditioning and a water dispenser installed. He thanked team leader Chen Jun-hong for his dedication to improving the environment before retirement. He also urged the public to reduce waste and recycle, which is the greatest appreciation for the clean-up team members.

The Puli Township Clean-up Team also stated that the garbage transfer station has been in use for over 20 years, and many facilities are old. The ground has been uneven and full of potholes due to years of heavy vehicle traffic, making it muddy and difficult to navigate in the rain. To improve the transfer station's environment and management safety, the Environmental Management Administration subsidized improvement funds, totaling NT$32 million with the township office's self-funded portion. The transfer station's concrete ground was repaved, new fences were installed around it, and an electric rolling gate was added at the entrance, with work completed by the end of last year.
