(Central News Agency, Reporter Xu Zhiwei, Taipei, 12th) To narrow the educational resource gap between urban and rural areas, the King Car Education Foundation, in cooperation with the Taiwan International Youth Cultural Exchange Association, has brought foreign volunteers deep into Tainan City Anye Elementary School to assist with bilingual teaching, helping students improve their confidence in speaking English and broaden their international perspectives.
The King Car Education Foundation today issued a press release stating that to cultivate a generation of young people with an international perspective, the King Car Education Foundation has been promoting the "Flying International Volunteer Support Program" since 2023, collaborating with the Taiwan International Youth Cultural Exchange Association to support foreign youth volunteers in Taiwanese elementary and middle schools, assisting with bilingual teaching and promoting multicultural exchange.
Today, the King Car Education Foundation, the Taiwan International Youth Cultural Exchange Association, the Junyi Cultural and Educational Foundation, and Tainan City Anye Elementary School collaborated to invite international volunteers serving in Taiwan to gather, bringing cross-cultural exchange.
Ella, a German volunteer who assists with teaching at Anye Elementary School, shared that she came to Taiwan as an international volunteer hoping to challenge herself in a new environment. Taiwan's friendliness and hospitality were important reasons for her decision. Seeing students gradually gain confidence in speaking English from being shy during her time with them was the most unforgettable reward. This experience not only improved her communication skills and adaptability but also deepened her understanding of different cultures and educational settings.
Chen Hong-ji, principal of Tainan City Anye Elementary School, stated that students in the Madou area rarely have the opportunity to interact with foreigners and practice English. To overcome this difficulty, the school decided to introduce international volunteers. To get closer to the international volunteers, students actively tried to converse in English, which not only boosted their confidence in speaking but also broadened their international perspectives. The school also organizes activities to allow international volunteers and their families to learn about Taiwan and the local characteristics of Madou.
Lin Yi-hsuan, a student at Tainan City Anye Elementary School, shared that she enjoys having international volunteers at the school because she can learn interesting knowledge from various countries. What impressed her most was creating Easter comics. In these activities, she also became braver and more confident. (Editor: Long Boan) 1150512
