(Central News Agency reporter Huang Liyun, Taipei, 12th) To enhance foreign migrant workers' awareness of fraud prevention, the Immigration Agency today partnered with Jiunian Construction Company to hold an occupational safety workshop for migrant workers. Chen Mali, who has 15 years of interpreting experience, shared anti-fraud cases and prevention tips in Thai, bridging the information gap for migrant workers in Taiwan.

The Taipei City Service Station of the National Immigration Agency's Northern Affairs Corps issued a press release stating that foreign migrant workers often come to Taiwan to work far from home, and due to language barriers and unfamiliarity with Taiwan's social environment, it is often difficult for them to identify fraud methods in a timely manner and make correct judgments. To strengthen their anti-fraud awareness, they were invited today to attend Jiunian Construction Co., Ltd.'s occupational safety workshop to conduct anti-fraud publicity.

At the scene, Chen Mali (LAI MANIDA) shared fraud cases in Thai. There was a case where a migrant worker, for a reward of NT$5,000, lent his bank account to others, which resulted in involvement in fraudulent financial flows and criminal liability. This not only affected his work and residency qualifications in Taiwan but also led to his deportation, a loss that outweighed the gain.

Chen Mali reminded foreign migrant workers to protect their identity documents, residency permits, and bank accounts, and never to hand them over to others to avoid becoming a mule account and inadvertently breaking the law.

Jiunian Construction Company stated that by inviting the Immigration Agency to conduct publicity at this occupational safety workshop, and with the assistance of interpreters, migrant workers truly understood the content of the publicity, deeply embedding anti-fraud awareness in their hearts. Migrant workers also responded that being able to ask questions in their familiar language made the originally cold legal regulations feel approachable and easy to understand, thereby enhancing their self-protection awareness and anti-fraud vigilance, avoiding falling into fraud traps due to momentary negligence.

Su Huiwen, Director of the Taipei City Service Station, stated that migrant workers are indispensable important partners in Taiwan's workforce, and they will continue to promote diversified publicity models, reaching more enterprises and migrant worker groups, to implement substantial care and protection for migrant workers. She also reminded again that if suspicious situations are encountered, vigilance must be raised, and the 165 anti-fraud hotline should be called for verification to protect personal property safety.
