(Central News Agency reporter Huang Li-chen, Taipei, 12th) Several netizens posted that a male passenger at Songshan Station was constantly yelling and cursing tonight, and continued to verbally abuse other passengers and threaten the train conductor after boarding. In response, the Railway Police Bureau stated that after investigation, Mr. Li, who was heavily intoxicated and had verbally abused the train conductor, was referred to the law for investigation.
Some netizens posted pictures and videos on the social media platform 'Cui' in the evening, stating that a suspected drunk passenger was yelling and cursing like crazy before boarding the train at Songshan Station in Taipei, and continued to verbally abuse other passengers and threaten the train conductor after boarding, until he alighted at Xizhi Station. This sparked heated discussions among netizens.
The Taipei branch of the Railway Police Bureau explained in a press release in the evening that its Nangang police station received a report around 6 PM that people were loudly creating a disturbance in the second car of Taiwan Railways' 4232 local train. Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene to handle the situation.
Upon investigation, it was learned that the person involved was Mr. Li, in his 40s, who boarded at Songshan Station and alighted at Xizhi Station. Suspected of being heavily intoxicated and emotionally agitated, he was immediately taken back to the station for protective custody to prevent danger to public safety.
Although the train conductor temporarily decided not to file a complaint, the police reviewed videos taken by eyewitnesses and determined that Mr. Li's behavior of verbally abusing the train conductor was suspected of violating the Railway Act, obstructing railway employees from performing their duties through intimidation. The entire case was referred to the Shilin District Prosecutors Office for investigation after the inquiry.
It is understood that Mr. Li frequently exhibits uncontrolled behavior when taking public transport and is a known problem individual to the railway police. Some netizens also said that Mr. Li often causes trouble when taking buses in New Taipei City. (Editor: Li Xizhang) 1150512
