(Central News Agency reporter Chang Yi-lien, Kaohsiung, 12th) A driver surnamed Huang was stopped by police for inspection in Kaohsiung City's Sinsing District last year but refused to comply and crashed into a patrol car, damaging the vehicle and injuring one officer. Police fired six shots at the tires of Huang's vehicle, and he was later apprehended in Tainan City. The Kaohsiung District Prosecutor's Office concluded its investigation and indicted Huang for obstructing official duties and other charges.
The Kaohsiung District Prosecutor's Office indictment states that in the early morning of November 9, 2025, Huang was driving with a minor and illegally parked at an intersection in Sinsing District. When patrol officers requested an inspection, Huang allegedly started the vehicle and rammed into the officers and the patrol car while the minor was getting out, causing a laceration to one officer's left arm and dents to the front and rear right doors of the police car.
To prevent Huang from continuing to ram and cause harm, police fired six shots at the left front and rear tires of Huang's vehicle on the spot, but Huang still accelerated and fled. The indictment mentions that officers, holding an arrest warrant, apprehended Huang in Tainan City's Yongkang District at around 11 AM on the same day and seized a bag of third-grade ketamine and other items. The part concerning Huang's alleged violation of the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act will be separately transferred by the police.
After investigation, the prosecutor's office believes that Huang intentionally rammed into officers and fled the scene to evade inspection, committing offenses such as obstructing official duties by driving a motor vehicle, damaging items under the custody of public officials, and assault. As Huang committed an imaginary concurrence of crimes, he will be punished for the more severe offense of using a motor vehicle to commit violence against public officials performing their duties. After the investigation, a public prosecution was filed according to law. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150512
