Early this morning, a 90-year-old man fell into the water at Dadaocheng Wharf in Taipei City. A man in his 20s nearby immediately jumped into the water to save him, but unfortunately, both drowned and went missing. Police and firefighters were dispatched for search and rescue. The drowned elderly man was found but had no breathing or heartbeat and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. The other missing person is still being searched for.

Chinese Culture University responded in writing, stating that a Chinese Culture University student went missing in the incident while saving someone. Police, firefighters, and relevant units are still making full efforts in the search and rescue. The school is deeply concerned and sincerely asks all sectors to pray for the student's safety, hoping for a safe return.

Multiple media outlets reported that the student who jumped into the water to save someone is a member of the Chinese Culture University rugby team. He participated in the school's anniversary road race in 2022, completing the 3-kilometer race in just 10 minutes, and is a frequent winner in sports competitions. This male student was running and exercising with a friend early in the morning, happened to pass by the riverside, heard someone fall into the water, and jumped in to rescue them.
