(Central News Agency reporter Cheng Wei-chen, Changhua, 12th) Recently, online advertisements have appeared featuring Changhua Christian Hospital Superintendent Chen Mu-Kuan endorsing knee braces. Even hospital staff were deceived. Changhua Christian Hospital today clarified that these are malicious fraudulent advertisements created using AI, and the legal department is continuously collecting evidence, reminding the public not to be deceived.

Changhua Christian Hospital today issued a press release stating that illegal fraudulent videos have recently circulated on social media platforms, maliciously impersonating Chen Mu-Kuan's image, voice, and name using AI deepfake technology, and implanting false medical advice or recommending unknown products.

Changhua Christian Hospital spokesperson Chang Shang-wen stated that the hospital prohibits its doctors from endorsing any commercial advertisements. Therefore, any instance of a Changhua Christian Hospital doctor recommending specific medicines, nutritional supplements, or guiding the public to join personal LINE groups to receive information, are all false advertisements.

Chang Shang-wen pointed out that Chen Mu-Kuan has outstanding achievements in the field of oral cancer treatment and research. Unlawful individuals have repeatedly claimed that he endorses products for quitting betel nut, preventing snoring, treating sleep apnea, and tinnitus, leading many people to be deceived. This time, they used AI deepfake technology to falsify videos, even quoting his terminology, deceiving even hospital staff.

Changhua Christian Hospital stated that for such infringement, it has handed the matter over to the legal department for continuous evidence collection. The unauthorized use of Changhua Christian Hospital's name, doctors' likenesses, and the use of AI technology to fabricate false advertisements are suspected of violating the Criminal Code's fraud and aggravated defamation offenses, as well as the Medical Act, and legal responsibility will be pursued.
