Key News on the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

(Central News Agency, Reporter Chen Yen-ting, Kyiv, 12th) - Ukrainian Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov stated on the 11th that Kyiv now possesses the capability to produce missile systems with a range comparable to Germany's "Taurus," capable of striking deep targets within Russian territory at a distance of about 1500 kilometers.

According to "Ukrainska Pravda," Fedorov pointed out during a visit by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius to Kyiv that Ukraine is now able to attack targets within Russia. He said, "Regarding Taurus, we already have missiles that can reach the same or even greater ranges. Of course, you can never have too much firepower."

Germany has so far not decided whether to supply Ukraine with the Taurus air-to-ground missile, which has a range of about 500 kilometers.

Although the United States and European countries allowed Kyiv last year to use Western-provided long-range weapons to attack military facilities inside Russia, the long-range missiles currently supplied, including the British-made "Storm Shadow" and the US-made Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), mostly have a range of around 300 kilometers.

In contrast, Russia possesses several types of long-range missiles with ranges exceeding 1000 kilometers, including intercontinental ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. Recently, a Ukrainian-developed cruise missile, the "Flamingo," with a range of 1500 kilometers, successfully hit a Russian military-industrial facility.

Fedorov also stated that Germany is currently providing funding to assist Ukraine in producing interceptors and medium- to long-range missiles.

The report indicates that Ukraine and Germany will launch a joint project named "Brave Germany" to promote defense technology development and support startups.

Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on social media that nearly 20 countries have expressed interest and begun consultations on Ukraine's proposed "Drone Deal," with four countries having already signed, and related contracts are being prepared.

Zelenskyy noted that in addition to countries from the Middle East, Persian Gulf region, South Caucasus, and Europe, Canada has also expressed interest in joining the agreement for the first time. (Editor: Chen Hui-ping) 11505012
