(Central News Agency reporter Pan Tzu-yu, Taipei, 11th) The Taiwanese government plans to cooperate with the United States on the supply chain using the "Taiwan Model" to build industrial parks in the United States. National Development Council Chairman Yeh Chun-hsin announced today that Houston, Texas, and three locations in Arizona are currently under comprehensive evaluation. TSMC also revealed its view, hoping that relocating companies will primarily be upstream raw material and equipment suppliers, but regulatory issues involving chemicals still need to be overcome.

National Development Council Chairman Yeh Chun-hsin also serves as a corporate director for TSMC. He recently participated in the "SelectUSA Investment Summit" hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington D.C., along with Minister of Economic Affairs Kung Ming-hsin. During this visit, he also inspected TSMC's proposed factory site in Arizona, visited relevant state government agencies, and then proceeded to Washington D.C. to interact with high-level U.S. officials and important think tanks.

Yeh Chun-hsin stated that one of the missions of this visit to the U.S. was to investigate industrial park site selection. Currently, Houston, Texas, and Arizona are being evaluated. The latter already has the leading wafer foundry TSMC's U.S. factory. This trip specifically visited three locations in Arizona: one northwest of the TSMC Arizona factory, but it is relatively far; one around the TSMC factory; and one in Mesa City to the south.

Yeh Chun-hsin stated that industrial park site selection is based on demand, and this time they also drew on the overseas development experience of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA) to conduct location research for establishing industrial parks in the United States.

Yeh Chun-hsin also said that industrial parks involve a wide range of issues. In addition to hoping for assistance from state governments, companies also expect cooperation with local schools. Other issues such as housing, education, and medical care also need to be comprehensively evaluated. (Editor: Huang Kuo-lun) 1150511
