At around 5 PM, the Dunhua South Road Police Station of the Daan Precinct, Taipei City Police Department, received a 110 report stating that someone was chasing another person with a knife on Zhongxiao East Road Section 4. Police forces on duty were immediately dispatched to the scene for investigation.
Upon investigation, it was understood that a 60-year-old woman surnamed Hsieh asked her daughter and her boyfriend, surnamed Huang, to persuade her son, surnamed Chen, to return home, as he refused to do so.
Unexpectedly, communication between the two parties failed, leading to a chase at the scene of the incident. Police intercepted Huang and Chen in an alley on Zhongxiao East Road Section 4. No one was injured at the scene.
