(Central News Agency reporter Huang Li-yun, Taipei, 11th) A 70-year-old couple in Taipei's Daan District had long-standing disputes over differing financial views. Unexpectedly, their daughter could not contact her parents on the 9th and returned home to find her mother dead and her father comatose. Police stated today that there were no signs of forced entry after investigation, and the detailed cause of death still needs to be clarified.

Taipei City Police Department Daan Precinct explained through a press release today that its Xinsheng South Road Police Station received a report from a citizen around 7 PM on the 9th, stating that an accident occurred at their residence on Jianguo South Road in Daan District, and personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers found that the residents were a 70-year-old couple. Ms. Huang was lying on the floor in the room, clearly deceased, and although there were no obvious external injuries on her body, there were ligature marks on her neck. Her husband, Mr. Zhou, was lying comatose on the bed and was immediately assisted in being sent to the hospital for emergency treatment. Police personnel are currently guarding him.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Ms. Zhou, who reported the incident, called her parents daily. On the day of the incident, she tried to call them several times but could not reach them, so she rushed home to check, only to discover this tragedy.

Police initially found no signs of forced entry at the scene, but Mr. Zhou and Ms. Huang had frequently argued over long-standing differences in financial views. They had another quarrel at the end of last year, and Ms. Huang subsequently applied for a domestic violence protection order. There are no related records for this year. Although both had been taking medication for chronic illnesses for a long time, preliminary understanding indicates no abnormal drugs or dosages at the scene.

The detailed cause of death and the circumstances of the incident still await further investigation and clarification. The entire case has been reported to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for command and investigation. (Editor: Li Shu-hua) 1150511
