(Central News Agency reporter Chao Li-yen, Taichung, 11th) The Taichung City Government has created the Rhinoceros Beetle Ecological Park in Dongshi District, designed with the Hakka Weilonwu as its spatial image and integrating the concept of the rhinoceros beetle's life cycle, allowing the public to get close to nature and learn about ecology during their leisure time.

The Taichung City Government invested NT$93.85 million to build the Rhinoceros Beetle Ecological Park in Dongshi District. The opening ceremony was held today, attended by Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, Legislative Yuan Vice President Chiang Chi-chen, and several local representatives.

Mayor Lu Shiow-yen stated in her speech that the Rhinoceros Beetle Ecological Park is a "living park," not just a playground with cement, stones, or sculptures, but an ecological habitat suitable for the reproduction and growth of rhinoceros beetles, becoming a paradise for insect growth and a warm home for rhinoceros beetles. Because rhinoceros beetles have very high humidity requirements for their living environment, an "environmental information board" is installed in the park to assist with popular science education.

Legislative Yuan Vice President Chiang Chi-chen pointed out that the Rhinoceros Beetle Ecological Park combines culture, ecology, and tourism, making it a distinctive inclusive park. He invited the public to come and play not only by car but also by cycling along the Dongfeng Bicycle Path, where Hakka cuisine and agricultural products are also available.

Chen Da-tian, Director of the Construction Bureau, explained that the Rhinoceros Beetle Ecological Park uses the Hakka Weilonwu as its spatial image, integrates the concept of the rhinoceros beetle's life cycle for its overall planning and design, and connects with the Romantic Provincial Highway 3, Dongfeng Bicycle Path, and Xu Liang-yu Library, forming an important node with functions for recreation, education, and tourism.
