Sheng Yi Clinic Accused of Secret Filming, Taoyuan Prosecutors Investigate and Conduct Searches

After a citizen reported being secretly filmed during a visit to Sheng Yi Clinic, Taipei police began investigations. The Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office today confirmed that it also received a report, has opened a separate investigation, and earlier conducted searches at the Taoyuan and Zhongli branches, seizing equipment and data.

The Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office confirmed that it received a public report stating that a patient was secretly filmed during a visit to Sheng Yi Clinic. Today, Prosecutor Zhai Heng-wei directed the Taoyuan and Zhongli precincts of the Taoyuan City Police Department to, with the consent of the establishment, accompany the Taoyuan City Department of Health to search Sheng Yi Clinic's Taoyuan and Zhongli branches for pinhole cameras and seized related equipment such as computer hosts and client data for investigation.

Sheng Yi Medical Aesthetics Group issued a statement on the 9th, noting that before any treatment, explicit written consent is obtained from every consumer for audio and video recording during the treatment process; the retention period is one month after the treatment concludes.

The statement added that recently, due to the secret filming case involving the IRIE Group, some consumers have been anxious and requested Sheng Yi Medical Aesthetics Group to delete audio and video recordings made during treatments. Sheng Yi Medical Aesthetics Group, in strict accordance with relevant provisions of the Personal Data Protection Act, deleted all audio and video recordings, but retained backend records of the images for verification by law enforcement agencies, in compliance with legal requirements.
