(Central News Agency reporter Lu Chia-jung, Taipei, 11th) Beiyi Girls' High School teacher Ou Kuei-chih recently stated in an interview with Chinese media that she opposes US arms purchases, claiming that if Taiwanese people acknowledge being Chinese, "peace will come, and not a single penny of military expenditure will be needed." The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) responded today, stating that Beiyi Girls' High School had announced last year a ban on faculty and staff accepting interviews from CCP-affiliated media, and should appropriately handle Ou Kuei-chih's renewed cooperation with CCP propaganda.
Ou Kuei-chih was recently interviewed by "Riyue Tantian," a new media platform under China's official CCTV. She opposed US arms purchases, claiming, "Taiwanese people are Chinese; if we acknowledge this, peace will come, and not a single penny of military expenditure will be needed."
The MAC responded in writing today, pointing out that CCTV's "Riyue Tantian" channel frequently publishes propaganda for Taiwan's united front and military threats, making it a genuine mouthpiece of the CCP. Beiyi Girls' High School had announced last year a ban on faculty and staff accepting interviews from CCP-affiliated media and should appropriately handle Ou Kuei-chih's renewed cooperation with CCP propaganda.
The Legislative Yuan passed the third reading of the "Special Act for Strengthening National Security and Asymmetric Warfare Capability Procurement Plan" on the 8th, which involves US arms purchases, with a budget ceiling of NT$780 billion. The Presidential Office today issued a presidential order to promulgate the special act. (Editor: Chiu Kuo-chiang) 1150511
