(Central News Agency reporter Wang Hong-guo, New Taipei, 11th) After completing the preliminary inspection and improvement work for the New Taipei MRT Sanying Line, the city government today conducted an inspection activity before applying to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) for final inspection. Mayor Hou Yu-ih stated that the application for MOTC's final inspection will be submitted in May, and after the final inspection, it is hoped that the line can officially open around the middle of this year.
The New Taipei City Government conducted the Sanying Line's pre-final inspection at MRT Dingpu Station today. Participants included Su Tsui-hui, the Democratic Progressive Party's mayoral candidate for New Taipei, as well as local councillors and village chiefs from Tucheng, Sanxia, and Yingge.
Li Cheng-an, Director of the New Taipei City Government's Department of Rapid Transit Systems, reported in a briefing that the five improvement items listed in the preliminary inspection have been completed, and the application for MOTC's final inspection will follow. Regarding the transfer from Bannan Line's Dingpu Station to Sanying Line, a two-level escalator transfer will allow the transfer process to be completed within two minutes.
Hou Yu-ih and others then inspected the transfer escalator and took a train to Yingge Ceramics Old Street Station. Along the way, they could enjoy views of National Taipei University and art museums. At Yingge Ceramics Old Street Station, they also listened to an introduction of the public art piece "Interesting," designed by Japanese artist Asako Otsuka. Inspired by the stacked imagery of Yingge ceramics, the artwork creates rest seating for the public, combining childlike fun with practicality.
Hou Yu-ih stated in a media interview that after the Sanying Line passed its preliminary inspection, today's activity was a pre-final inspection before applying to the MOTC, confirming that the entire system's stability has reached a high standard. He expressed hope that after the MOTC passes the final inspection, the Sanying Line can smoothly open around the middle of this year.
Hou Yu-ih pointed out that the Sanying Line is an MRT line long awaited by citizens in areas like Tucheng, Shulin, Sanxia, and Yingge, and it can drive the development of the local economy, industry, and tourism. Most importantly, with the opening of the Sanying Line, travel time from the Sanying area to Taipei can be reduced by 20 minutes.
