Medical Beauty Suspected of Secret Filming: Taipei City Receives 90 Complaints, 26 People Receive Legal Consultations

(Central News Agency reporter Huang Li-yun, Taipei 11th) Suspected secret filming in medical beauty clinics continues to escalate. The Taipei City Legal Affairs Department today stated that over the past 10 days, a total of 90 consumer complaints have been received, of which 81 concern Aerlry Medical Beauty Clinic. For the specialized legal consultations held from today for three consecutive days, 26 people have already made reservations.

Regarding the consumer panic caused by suspected secret filming in medical beauty clinics, the latest statistics from the Taipei City Legal Affairs Department show that from May 1st to 12 PM on May 11th, Taipei City has received a total of 90 consumer complaints related to suspected pinhole camera filming. Among these, Aerlry Medical Beauty Clinic accounts for 81 cases, Glow Clinic for 2 cases, and Saint-Eir Clinic for 7 cases.

The Legal Affairs Department said that to assist consumers in protecting their rights, the Taipei City Government, in addition to cooperating with police and prosecutors in investigations, has also adopted two countermeasures: "deliberating on initiating class-action lawsuits" and establishing an "Aerlry Medical Beauty Consumer Dispute Special Legal Consultation Service."

The Legal Affairs Department stated that to balance consumer privacy protection and maintain the quality of legal consultation services, the Taipei City Government has launched one-on-one legal consultation services. From May 11th to 13th, every day from 2 PM to 5 PM, two lawyers will be arranged at the East District Legal Consultation Room on the 1st floor of the City Hall Building to provide legal consultations for 예약 citizens.

Considering the highly private nature of this case, this special legal consultation session adopts a full online reservation system. The Legal Affairs Department stated today that as of 11 AM, the number of registered consultants for each session was 12, 4, and 10 people, respectively.
