TAIPEI (CNA) – Taiwanese female golfer Hou Yu-Sang will participate in this week's CTBC Ladies Open, striving for the championship trophy. As this tournament is jointly sanctioned by the Japan secondary tour, she hopes to use this to enter the Japan Tour.

This tournament is one of the Japan Ladies Professional Golfers' Association's secondary tour events. If a player wins, it guarantees a spot in the top 10 of the prize money list by the end of the year, allowing them to start directly from the final stage of the qualifying examination and also gain eligibility to participate in the first half of the Japan regular tour next year.

Hou Yu-Sang, 26, attended the University of Arizona during her college years and represented the school in NCAA competitions. She later stayed in the US to pursue her career, actively participating in both the main LPGA tour and the Epson Tour (secondary tour) to achieve good results.

However, after several years, Hou Yu-Sang has not yet established herself on the American circuit, prompting her to consider returning home and focusing on the Japan Tour, which is closer to Taiwan.

Hou Yu-Sang told CNA reporters that she actually participated in the Japan Tour qualifying examination last year, but unfortunately, she didn't perform well in the latter two stages. Therefore, she attaches particular importance to this week's tournament and returned from the US in advance to adjust to the time difference and prepare for the competition.

Hou Yu-Sang performed exceptionally well in the first round of last year's CTBC Ladies Open but ultimately finished tied for 7th. She mentioned, "I've been adjusting all year, especially my mindset. I now know better when to attack and when to defend, and I have more patience with every shot."

Hou Yu-Sang stated that she enjoys returning to Taiwan to participate in this tournament, where she can compete with many Japanese players. The atmosphere is completely different from that in the US, and she can also see many different top Asian players.

Hou Yu-Sang emphasized that the greens on Asian courses are generally difficult to putt, and this time the fairways seem narrower and the rough longer, which she believes will be a big challenge for the players. (Edited by Chang Ya-ching) 1150511
