The Nantou County Fire Department issued a press release today explaining that a 25-person hiking group, when returning and gathering at 5 PM yesterday, found that only 24 people were present, and one female member had not returned as agreed. The group immediately called 119 to report the incident and contacted the female member's family. With the family's assistance, they found that the female member's mobile phone signal was located in a valley near Hehuan Mountain East Peak.
The Nantou County Fire Department and other units formed a search and rescue team and went to the location of the mobile phone signal. Although they found the mobile phone, they did not find the female member. The search and rescue units immediately expanded the search area and continued to search today along the downhill route from where the phone was found and in the surrounding stream valleys.
