DPP to Hold Election Strategy Meeting on 13th, Expected to Nominate Shen Po-yang for Taipei Mayoral Race

(Central News Agency reporters Yeh Su-Ping, Wen Kuei-Hsiang, Taipei 11th) The Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) election strategy committee will hold a meeting on the 13th, and is expected to nominate Legislator Shen Po-yang to run for Taipei mayor, challenging incumbent Mayor Chiang Wan-an; after the Central Executive Committee approves the nomination on the 13th, President Lai Ching-te, who also serves as DPP chairman, will host a nomination press conference that afternoon, presenting Shen Po-yang with a campaign sash.

DPP election strategy committee members received a meeting notice this evening, stating that the election strategy committee will convene at 10 AM on the 13th, with the expectation of nominating Shen Po-yang for the Taipei mayoral race.

Regarding the nomination plan, the DPP central office only responded that the nomination process for the Taipei mayoral candidate will proceed according to nomination conventions, with the nomination completed only after the election strategy committee approves the recommended candidate and the Central Executive Committee passes it.

It is understood that Shen Po-yang's team has quietly begun operations, including plans for Legislator Wu Szu-yao to serve as the campaign general manager, Legislator Wu Pei-yi as the executive general manager, and Wu Pei-yi, who comes from a councilor background, to take over as party chairman to integrate local organizations. Policy will be handled by at-large legislators Chen Pei-yu and Fan Yun.

Recently, Shen Po-yang has also shown different facets of his public persona. In late April, he cut his signature explosive hair, opting for a neat short curly hairstyle, and frequently appeared with Taipei City councilor candidates to rally support and visit grassroots communities.
