(Central News Agency reporter Wang Hung-kuo, New Taipei, May 11) The Danjiang Bridge is about to be completed and opened to traffic. Its magnificent bridge structure and river mouth scenery have attracted the attention of many photography enthusiasts and remote-controlled drone players. The New Taipei City Transportation Department stated today that if people operate drones illegally for flight photography, they could be fined up to NT$300,000.

The Transportation Department issued a press release stating that according to the Civil Aviation Act and Article 28 of the Remote-Controlled Drone Management Regulations, operators engaging in drone flight activities should maintain a distance of more than 30 meters from highways, expressways, railways, elevated MRT systems, and buildings.

The Transportation Department stated that the Danjiang Bridge belongs to the expressway system and is a large bridge structure, which is a restricted area according to regulations. Drones are not allowed to fly at close range or cross the bridge for photography.

The Transportation Department stated that after the Danjiang Bridge opens to traffic in the future, traffic volume will be large and vehicle speeds will be high. If a drone is operated improperly or loses control and falls, it may affect the safety of road users and even cause major traffic accidents. Especially, the strong winds on the bridge deck further increase the flight risk.

The Transportation Department stated that if drone flight regulations are violated, a fine of up to NT$300,000 can be imposed according to the Civil Aviation Act; if illegal flight affects traffic or endangers public safety, and the circumstances are serious, criminal liability may be involved. It urged the public not to take chances and break the law. (Edited by Chen Ching-fang) 1150511
