(Central News Agency Reporter Li Jian-zhong, Taipei, May 11) The 2026 CTBC Ladies Open golf tournament will kick off for three consecutive days starting May 14 at the Oriental Golf and Country Club. In addition to local players gathering to vie for the championship trophy, the organizer has added the "Tu Ah-yu Heritage Award" for the player with the lowest single-round score.
The CTBC Ladies Open, jointly certified by the Taiwan Ladies Professional Golf Association (TLPGA) and the Japan Secondary Tour, offers a total prize money of 50 million Japanese Yen (approximately 10 million New Taiwan Dollars), with the champion receiving 9 million Japanese Yen.
As this tournament also counts as a stop on the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Secondary Tour, if a player wins, they can at least enter the top 10 on the prize money list by the end of the year and also gain eligibility to participate in the first half of next year's Japan regular tour.
CTBC, the sponsor of the event, previously hosted the "Republic of China Ladies Golf Open" in 1977 and 1978, with both championships won by Taiwan's golf legend Tu Ah-yu. This year, coinciding with CTBC's 60th anniversary, the "Tu Ah-yu Heritage Award" has been specially added to this tournament.
According to the tournament rules, the "Tu Ah-yu Heritage Award" will present 1.15 million Japanese Yen to honor Tu Ah-yu's career total of 115 championships. Any player with the lowest single-round score over the three days of the tournament will receive the award. If there is more than one player, the prize money will be divided equally.
Tu Ah-yu stated, "I have received help from many people, and now I also hope to help many people and pass on this spirit of golf. I am very grateful that there are companies willing to continuously support domestic women's golf and cultivate more outstanding young talents." (Editor: Li Hsi-chang) 2026/05/11
