Central News Agency (Reporter Yeh Chen, Taoyuan, 11th) With subsidies from the central government, the Taoyuan City Government undertook the new construction project to extend Yanping Road from the south side of National Freeway No. 2 to Heping Road. The completion and opening ceremony for the third phase was held today. Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan thanked the central government for its support, stating that the road opening will significantly alleviate traffic pressure in Bade.
The Taoyuan City Government promoted the Yanping Road new construction project in response to the growing traffic demands due to population growth in the Taoyuan and Bade areas. The project was constructed in three phases. The first and second phases were completed and opened in July and December 2020, respectively. The third phase, which opened today, extends from Heqiang Road in Bade District to Heping Road, connecting to existing roads, thus completing the entire line.
Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan attended the completion and opening ceremony of the "Yanping Road (South Side of National Freeway No. 2) Extension to Heping Road New Construction Project (Phase 3)" today and stated that the third phase project cost approximately NT$290 million, of which the Ministry of Interior's National Land Management Agency subsidized NT$112.42 million. He thanked the Ministry of Interior for supporting Taoyuan's transportation infrastructure, noting that the opening will effectively alleviate traffic pressure in Bade.
Mayor Cheng pointed out that the design of the third phase project has reserved space for the piers of the MRT Sanying Line extension. In the future, it will connect to the No. 6 living circle road extending to Jieshou Road, thereby linking the transportation networks of Taoyuan, Bade, Pingzhen, and Longtan. The city will continue to optimize the regional road network to create a convenient transportation living circle.
Minister of Interior Liu Shih-fang stated that with Taoyuan's population growth, traffic demand is continuously increasing. Since 2021, the Ministry of Interior has subsidized the Taoyuan City Government nearly NT$3.1 billion through items such as pedestrian walkways, forward-looking projects, and living circle roads, demonstrating the central government's strong support for Taoyuan's transportation infrastructure. In the future, it will continue to cooperate with local construction planning to assist Taoyuan in gradually improving its regional road network. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150511
