(Central News Agency reporter Yeh Chen, Taoyuan, 11th) With central government subsidies, Taoyuan City Government undertook the new road construction project extending Yanping Road from the south side of National Freeway No. 2 to Heping Road. The completion and opening ceremony for the third phase was held today. Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan thanked the central government for its support, stating that the opening will significantly alleviate traffic pressure in Bade.

In response to the traffic demands arising from population growth in the Taoyuan and Bade areas, Taoyuan City Government promoted the Yanping Road new construction project, which was carried out in three phases. The first and second phases were completed and opened to traffic in July and December 2020, respectively. The third phase, which opened today, extends from Hoqiang Road in Bade District to Heping Road, connecting to existing roads, thus completing the entire line.

Cheng Wen-tsan attended the completion and opening ceremony for the "Yanping Road (South Side of National Freeway No. 2) Extension to Heping Road New Construction Project (Phase 3)" today and stated that the third phase project cost approximately NT$290 million, of which the National Land Management Agency of the Ministry of the Interior subsidized NT$112.42 million. He thanked the Ministry of the Interior for supporting Taoyuan's transportation infrastructure, noting that the opening will effectively relieve traffic pressure in Bade.

Cheng Wen-tsan pointed out that the design of the third phase project has reserved space for the piers of the MRT Sanying Extension Line. In the future, it will also connect the No. 6 Living Circle Road, extending to Jieshou Road, thereby linking the transportation networks of Taoyuan, Bade, Pingzhen, and Longtan. The city will continue to promote regional network optimization to create a convenient transportation living circle.

Minister of the Interior Liu Shih-fang stated that with Taoyuan's population growth, traffic demand continues to rise. Since 2021, the Ministry of the Interior has subsidized the Taoyuan City Government nearly NT$3.1 billion through projects such as sidewalks, forward-looking plans, and living circle roads, demonstrating the central government's strong support for Taoyuan's transportation infrastructure. It will continue to cooperate with local construction planning to help Taoyuan gradually improve its regional road network. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150511
