(Central News Agency reporter Su Chih-she, New Taipei, 10th) Wei Chuan Dragons manager Yeh Chun-chang reached his milestone of 1000 games as manager yesterday. Reflecting on this journey, he admitted that his deepest gratitude goes to "boss" Wei Yin-chung, who bore the pressure during the team's recent poor performance, saying, "He still believed in me."
Yeh Chun-chang led the Wei Chuan Dragons to an 8-2 victory over the Fubon Guardians yesterday, marking his 1000th career game as a manager and his 300th win leading the Dragons, ranking second in Dragons' history, only behind Hsu Sheng-ming's 335 wins.
Looking back at his career, which included stints as manager for the EDA Rhinos, Fubon Guardians, and now Wei Chuan Dragons, Yeh Chun-chang noted that 628 of his thousand games were with the Dragons. He believes his greatest thanks goes to Wei Yin-chung, the driving force behind the Dragons' return. "If he hadn't given me the opportunity, it would have been impossible to achieve this; this is a very important matter."
Although he led the team to a championship in 2023, Yeh Chun-chang also admitted that his coaching performance was not good in the first two years, leading to some external voices and perhaps internal thoughts. "The boss would have felt pressure, but he still believed in me."
Yeh Chun-chang also expressed gratitude to the teams he played for in the past. He had considered leaving his managerial position if the Wei Chuan Dragons had not returned, but Fubon was very good to him. "I didn't manage the team well at that time, and I believe everyone felt the pressure, so I'm also grateful to them." (Editor: Chen Ching-fang) 1150510
