(Central News Agency reporter Yang Shu-min, Taipei, May 10) Taipei City's rodent control efforts continue to advance, initiating large-scale disinfection operations across its 12 administrative districts. Following the full disinfection of Zhongshan District on May 8, the Taipei City Government announced today that Datong, Wanhua, and Zhongzheng districts will undergo disinfection on May 11; Nangang, Wenshan, and Neihu on May 12; Songshan, Daan, and Xinyi on May 13; and Shilin and Beitou on May 14, all following the same large-scale disinfection protocol.

The Taipei City Government stated that all operations will follow the standard procedures of Zhongshan District, mobilized by district offices, environmental protection bureau disinfection teams, district cleaning teams, and personnel from relevant departments. They also expressed gratitude to neighborhood chiefs and environmental volunteers for their participation, emphasizing patrol inspections and cleaning of parks, as well as clearing accumulated debris in back alleys.

The Environmental Protection Bureau added that during the disinfection period, the number of dead or visible rats is bound to increase. Citizens are reminded to wear gloves when handling them in communities and homes, to seal dead rats in bags, dispose of them as general waste, and disinfect the original spot with a 1:9 diluted bleach solution. The city government will continue to strengthen public space patrols and will handle disinfection according to the same principles. (Editors: Li Shuhua) 1150510
