(Central News Agency reporter Huang Li-li, Taipei, 10th) A citizen reported that Rui En Postpartum Care Center in Taipei City is suspected of installing pinhole cameras. Police searched and found wires inside a smoke detector, which have been seized as evidence. Currently, no related hidden filming videos have been found. The person in charge claims they were non-functional discarded wires. The case has been sent to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation.
A citizen posted on the social media platform Threads today with pictures and text, stating that Rui En Postpartum Care Center also installed hidden cameras, specifically in the SPA room, and mentioned that she had received massages there 4 times. Other postpartum women also undressed and received massages there, and she had paid NT$720,000 to stay at the center.
The Bo'ai Road Police Station of the Zhongzheng First Precinct of the Taipei City Police Department received a 110 report at around 2 PM, stating that a citizen reported finding what appeared to be a pinhole lens involved in hidden filming within a smoke detector in a lactation education room at a local maternity center.
After dispatching personnel to the scene to investigate, with the consent of the operator, they entered to conduct detection. Upon inspecting the location indicated by the caller, they found wires hidden inside a smoke detector. A special task force was immediately established with the Taipei City Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, and a comprehensive detection and inspection of the entire floor was conducted using infrared anti-pinhole detectors.
At the same time, a consensual search and evidence preservation were executed. Evidence seized from the scene included a smoke detector (with wires), a monitor host, and hard drives. The person in charge, Mr. Lian, was also notified to come to the police station for investigation.
After completing his statement in the evening, Mr. Lian was interviewed by the media and stated that the so-called "device" was actually just a wire end, and it was non-functional discarded wiring not connected to any device. He believes that after the investigation, the truth will soon be clarified.
Regarding whether the evidence found during the search is a hidden camera or a microphone, the police stated that further investigation is needed for clarification. However, preliminary inspection showed no related hidden filming images. As the citizen has filed a complaint, the entire case will be transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation on suspicion of obstructing sexual privacy, infringing on secrets, and violating the Medical Care Act.
