According to Hsu Wen-ming, Deputy Chief of Miaoli Police Substation, speaking to Central News Agency reporters, officers from the Bei-Miao Police Station were patrolling in a police car around 9 PM tonight when they spotted a car committing a violation. They signaled for it to stop, but the car accelerated away, prompting a pursuit.

Hsu Wen-ming stated that as the two vehicles proceeded to Yingcai Road, the driver of the private car suddenly changed lanes, causing the two vehicles to collide and both getting stuck in a roadside ditch.

Hsu Wen-ming added that the accident resulted in a female officer in the police car sustaining a laceration to the head, and a male officer suffering abrasions to his hands and feet. Both were sent to the hospital and are out of danger. The private car driver was uninjured and was immediately taken back to the police station by officers who rushed to handle the scene.
