(Central News Agency reporter Su Chih-Yu, New Taipei, 10th) The Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) won a tough game tonight, hitting three tying home runs as a team. They finally defeated the Wei Chuan Dragons 8-7 in the bottom of the 10th inning of extra time, thanks to a walk-off hit by pinch-hitter Kao Kuo-Lin. Manager Goto Mitsunori exclaimed, "The best game!"

The Guardians faced deficits three times today. They conceded 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning, but Tai Pei-Feng hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game. They then allowed one run in the top of the 5th and another in the top of the 7th. However, Kung Nien-En hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 6th, and Wang Nien-Hao hit another solo homer in the bottom of the 9th, extending the game to extra innings.

Although they gave up 2 runs in the top of the 10th, the Guardians tied the game again in the bottom of the 10th with a 1-RBI single by Tai Pei-Feng and a sacrifice fly by Lin Tse-Pin. With two outs and runners on first and second, Kao Kuo-Lin came in to pinch-hit and successfully delivered a single to left field to score the winning run.

Goto Mitsunori revealed that he observed the opposing pitcher, Lin Hsin-Chieh, at that moment. "I felt that Kuo-Lin would be a good match, so I sent him up to pinch-hit. Kuo-Lin also did very well, warming up properly in the bullpen and getting himself ready."

Kao Kuo-Lin, in turn, revealed that he started warming up from the 5th inning. Having previous pinch-hitting experience, he knew it might be his turn or Chang Chin-Te's, and he had already planned for the opposing pitcher's possible pitches. "Pinch-hitting is really a difficult job, and I'm very happy that I did well and helped the team win."

Interestingly, both of Kao Kuo-Lin's career walk-off hits have come as a pinch-hitter. The previous one was a pinch-hit walk-off grand slam on October 6, 2022, against the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions, also at Xinzhuang Baseball Stadium. Kao Kuo-Lin said, "Whether starting or substituting, I just do the job the coach assigns. It's impossible to succeed every time, but I still have to be prepared."
