According to Asahi TV and Kanagawa Shimbun reports, based on information from police and fire departments, the incident occurred around 4:40 PM local time (3:40 PM Taipei time). On a JR Tokaido Line train heading towards Kawasaki Station, a passenger reported that "someone sprayed a substance similar to a spray" and called the police.

The caller was a woman in her 30s. She, along with her husband, also in his 30s, and their 1-year-old daughter, a total of three people, were sent to the hospital. All three experienced symptoms such as sore throats and headaches, but fortunately, their conditions were mild. JR East stated that about 10 people experienced discomfort.
