AFP reporters witnessed the jet carrying the five evacuated cruise ship passengers landing at Le Bourget Airport in northern Paris before 4:30 PM local time. Subsequently, five ambulances escorting them proceeded to Bichat Hospital in Paris under police escort.

A special plane carrying 14 Spanish nationals evacuated from the MV Hondius cruise ship arrived earlier in Madrid.

These passengers and crew evacuated from Tenerife Island arrived at Torrejon airbase and will be quarantined in a military hospital in Madrid.

Subsequently, repatriation flights from the UK, Canada, Ireland, Netherlands, Turkey, and the United States will evacuate nationals from these countries from the cruise ship on Tenerife Island.

The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that all personnel evacuated from the MV Hondius are classified as "high-risk" contacts and require 42 days of medical surveillance.

Three passengers, including a Dutch couple and a German woman, have died, and others have been infected with the disease, which is mostly transmitted among rodents.

The confirmation of the Andes strain, the only hantavirus type capable of human-to-human transmission, among confirmed cases in this outbreak has heightened international concerns. The incubation period for the virus can be up to six weeks.

However, WHO officials emphasized that in terms of risk, this outbreak is not comparable to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. (Compiler: He Hongru) 1150511
