(Central News Agency reporter Su Muchun, Taichung 10th) Taichung police received a report in the early hours of today that several migrant workers were clashing in front of Taichung TRA Station. When officers arrived, only two people were present. After an expanded investigation, a total of four Indonesian migrant workers involved in the case were apprehended. The investigation revealed that the conflict was suspected to be due to a drunken argument. After police questioning, they were sent for prosecution.
The First Precinct of the Taichung City Police Department stated that the police received a report at 3 a.m. today about a clash involving several migrant workers near Taichung TRA Station in the Central District. When police arrived, only two people were present, and surveillance footage was immediately reviewed to track down others.
Police found that four legal Indonesian migrant workers (all around 30 years old), surnamed Ha, A, La, and Ou, had previously engaged in a verbal altercation after drinking at Taichung ASEAN Square due to a disagreement and then left. Later, the four met again in front of Taichung Station Square, leading to another verbal altercation and physical shoving.
During the conflict, migrant worker Ha fell due to loss of balance from intoxication, resulting in a head injury. The others had no obvious injuries. Police have apprehended the four main migrant workers involved and will subsequently investigate them on suspicion of violating the Criminal Code and the Social Order Maintenance Act.
