(Mexico City, May 8, Comprehensive Foreign News) The 2026 FIFA World Cup will kick off in June. Host nations the United States, Canada, and Mexico will take turns holding grand opening ceremonies, inviting heavyweight singers such as Michael Bublé, Katy Perry, and BLACKPINK member Lisa to perform.

Agence France-Presse reported that, in addition to the aforementioned heavyweight musicians, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) confirmed today that American rapper Future, Alanis Morissette, and Colombian reggaeton singer J Balvin will also perform.

Mexico's opening ceremony will kick off first on June 11 at the Estadio Azteca, followed by the first match of this World Cup between Mexico and South Africa. This stadium will be renamed 'Mexico City Stadium' during this tournament.

The lineup of performers includes J Balvin, the multi-Grammy-winning Mexican rock band Mana, and pop singer Alejandro Fernández.

Mexican pop female singer Belinda and singer-songwriter Lila Downs will also participate in the performance, in addition to South African singer Tyla, and the band Los Ángeles Azules, known for their traditional Mexican Cumbia style.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated in a release, 'The ceremonies will kick off in Mexico City, with Toronto and Los Angeles taking over. These events will combine music, culture, and football, showcasing the uniqueness of each country while embodying the spirit of unity that this tournament represents.'

Canada's opening ceremony and matches will immediately follow Mexico's opening ceremony and first match.

On June 12, the Canadian team will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto. That day's events will feature Canadian-born singers Alanis Morissette and Michael Bublé, Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna, singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez, and Nora Fatehi.

The organizers promised that the event will present 'a journey across Canada' and showcase the country from coast to coast.

Later the same day, the U.S. team will face Paraguay in the major West Coast city of Los Angeles, kicking off the World Cup matches in the United States. This will also be another grand event combining sports and pop culture.

FIFA stated that the performers include superstars Katy Perry, Lisa, and Brazilian superstar Anitta. FIFA also stated that not all performing artists have been announced.

Infantino stated, 'The opening ceremony in Los Angeles will showcase the extraordinary scale of the 2026 World Cup. This artist lineup reflects American cultural diversity and the vibrancy of its diverse immigrant communities, highlighting America's profound influence in music, entertainment, and pop culture, while demonstrating the power of music to unite people.'
