(Central News Agency, Penghu County, 9th) The Ukrainian-flagged sailboat KARAANA-KAPAAHA was suspected to have its main sail rope broken last night due to strong winds. The Penghu Coast Guard dispatched personnel to rescue and escort it, guiding it safely into Outer Casing Fishing Port in Xiyu Township, Penghu County, with all personnel and the vessel safe.

Upon receiving the report, the Coast Guard dispatched an online patrol boat to brave the wind and waves. They found the sailboat 0.7 nautical miles south of Outer Casing, swaying and drifting. Upon closer inspection, it was found that the main sail rope was broken. After being guided by radio and lights, it was safely guided into Outer Casing Fishing Port at 7:20 PM.

The Penghu Coast Guard stated that the 3 people on board were a Russian couple and their child. They departed from Malaysia on April 3rd and were expected to arrive in Busan, South Korea. While sailing through the Penghu waters, the main sail rope was damaged due to bad weather. They were subsequently handed over to the Outer Casing Fishing Port Security Inspection Station for assistance with replenishment and repairs. The three expressed their gratitude to the Coast Guard for their timely rescue. (Editor: Li Mingzong) 1150509
