(Central News Agency reporter Chiang Ming-han, Taipei 9th) With rising health consciousness, Taiwan's fitness industry continues to expand steadily. The two major domestic fitness operators, World Gym-KY and Power Gym, are seeing strong operational performance. Their April revenues set new highs and second-highest levels, respectively. In the future, in addition to continuously expanding their footprint across Taiwan, they are also entering new business segments like badminton and Pilates, creating new growth drivers.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Finance, the national sales revenue of fitness centers for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 fiscal years were NT$17.08 billion, NT$18.66 billion, and NT$21.24 billion, respectively. The 2025 sales revenue increased by over 38% compared to the year before the end of the pandemic, with a compound annual growth rate of approximately 12% over the most recent three years. This indicates that fitness has gradually transformed from a short-term recovery demand post-pandemic into a stably growing daily consumption market.

Observing the revenue performance of the two major domestic fitness operators, World Gym-KY's April revenue was NT$971 million, an annual increase of 10.48%, achieving the second-highest monthly historical record. Accumulated revenue for the first four months was NT$3.782 billion, an annual increase of 9.66%. Power Gym's consolidated revenue for April was NT$581 million, an annual increase of 20.72%, setting a new monthly historical high. Accumulated consolidated revenue for the first four months was NT$2.208 billion, an annual increase of 20.32%.

Power Gym stated that with rising health consciousness, the prevalence of exercise, and the带动 of social media and fitness trends, the membership of its brand "Fitness Factory" has continuously grown since May 2022. This reflects that after the pandemic, fitness has transformed from a past "exercise when you feel like it" mindset to "a part of daily life," and the era of universal fitness has taken shape.

Power Gym is optimistic that the demand for fitness and exercise across all age groups in Taiwan continues to rise, and the market size continues to grow. Driven by the three major engines of "same-store growth," "new store momentum," and "increased member secondary consumption," Power Gym's revenue will continue to grow, and profits will show a stronger growth rate than revenue due to the realization of economies of scale.

Regarding expansion plans, Power Gym's "Fitness Factory" brand will open 10 new operating locations this year. The Anhe branch in Taipei City opened in the first quarter of this year, and the Wuri branch in Taichung City will begin operations in the second quarter. In the second half of the year, eight new locations are planned for northern, central, and southern Taiwan. World Gym-KY opened its newest WorldGym location in Xihu Township, Changhua County, in April. Another five locations are currently under construction, including Tainan Zhonghua East, Miaoli City, Neihu Xingyun, Taipei Shilin, and Taipei Xike, which will open successively.

In addition to expanding their core business, operators are also actively pursuing new growth curves. Power Gym's newly created brand, SKlub Sports Club, will build a badminton hall in Chiayi City this year, targeting the market gap of insufficient local venue supply. Through four items—venue rental, courses, merchandise, and camps—it aims to establish a profitable business model and create another pillar of growth.

Furthermore, Power Gym will launch customized paid training courses to meet the needs of advanced members, and its e-commerce (EC) platform went online in April, further increasing members' secondary consumption.

World Gym-KY is targeting the high-value-added course market, having introduced Pilates reformers and a digital platform in 44 locations. After coach training is completed, sales are expected to start in June, which is anticipated to boost operational performance from summer and become a new growth driver in the second half of the year.
