Last year, the Legislative Yuan cut the operational budget of the Executive Yuan's Eastern Joint Services Center, leading to the suspension of Taitung's "mobile consular services" (for passport applications) starting from March last year. The Bureau of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted a message on its official website yesterday, stating that to continue strengthening services for Taitung residents, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eastern Office will resume dispatching personnel to Taitung for "mobile consular services" starting May 15. Personnel will be dispatched to Taitung on the 15th of every odd-numbered month (if it falls on a holiday, it will be postponed to the next working day), distributing queue numbers from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Taitung Liaison Office of the Executive Yuan's Eastern Joint Services Center (7th Floor, Teaching Building, No. 684, Section 1, Zhonghua Road, Taitung City). The Bureau of Consular Affairs stated that the "mobile consular services" in Taitung include accepting applications for passport renewal and reissue, as well as various endorsements (transfers) for passports.
