Legislative Yuan Passes Military Procurement Act; Chiang Wan-an: Supports Necessary and Reasonable Procurement

(Taipei, May 9, Reporter Chen Yu-ting) The Legislative Yuan yesterday passed a military procurement act totaling NT$780 billion. Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an stated today that the KMT legislative caucus was very united, and the opposition worked hard. He firmly supports necessary and reasonable procurement, and the next step is to ensure that every penny of the budget is spent wisely.

Yesterday, under the leadership of KMT and Taiwan People's Party legislators, the Legislative Yuan gave its third reading and passed the 'Special Act for Safeguarding National Security and Strengthening Asymmetric Combat Capabilities Procurement Project,' totaling NT$780 billion, a reduction of NT$470 billion from the Executive Yuan's version. The act stipulates procurement items and the budget ceiling for two batches of military procurement payment orders.

Chiang Wan-an, attending a ceremony to celebrate the 1067th anniversary of Mazu at Songshan Ciyou Temple in Taipei today, was interviewed by the media and stated that the KMT legislative caucus was very united yesterday, and the opposition worked hard to pass this bill. He has always firmly supported strengthening Taiwan's defense capabilities and conducting necessary and reasonable procurement, and the next step is to continue ensuring that every penny of the budget is spent wisely.

In addition, to prevent rodent infestations, Chiang Wan-an announced yesterday the launch of a comprehensive large-scale cleaning campaign across all 12 administrative districts, starting from Zhongshan District. Chiang Wan-an stated today that this is the second city-wide cleaning campaign this year, and other administrative districts will gradually start from next week.
