(Central News Agency reporter Huang Hsu-sheng, New Taipei, 9th) New Taipei prosecutors are investigating Kuang Tse Medical Aesthetics Clinic for suspected pinhole camera voyeurism. After questioning, Banqiao branch manager Chen and equipment engineer Tang were reclassified as defendants today in the early morning and were requested to be detained and barred from communication on suspicion of unauthorized filming of sexual images, violation of the Personal Data Protection Act, and violation of the Children and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act.

New Taipei police received a report in the early morning of the 8th about suspected voyeurism at Kuang Tse Clinic's Banqiao branch. The victims also filed charges of obstruction of privacy and sexual privacy. Prosecutors directed police and health bureau personnel to successively search five branches of Kuang Tse Medical Aesthetics Clinic: Banqiao Guanqian, Banqiao Zhongshan, Sanxia, Sanchong, and Xinzhuang.

It is understood that at the Banqiao branch, police found that the smoke detector had been removed, but seized power cords, video cables, etc., which appeared to be residual surveillance camera wiring after being dismantled, as well as hard drives and membership data in the office. The Banqiao branch manager and an equipment vendor were brought in as witnesses.

New Taipei prosecutors stated that the two witnesses in the Kuang Tse Clinic case have been reclassified as defendants. After questioning, prosecutors today in the early morning requested the court to detain and bar communication for the two on suspicion of four charges: unauthorized filming of sexual images, unauthorized recording of private body parts, violation of the Personal Data Protection Act, and attempted filming of child and youth sexual images in violation of the Children and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act, citing concerns about collusion and destruction of evidence. The case is still under expanded investigation.

Kuang Tse Clinic issued a statement yesterday stating that the clinic attaches great importance to the controversy caused by surveillance equipment and has initiated a comprehensive internal review at the first instance, pledging full cooperation with regulatory authorities and investigative units.

Kuang Tse Clinic explained that the original intention of installing photographic equipment in the clinic was entirely for the purposes of 'ensuring medical quality,' 'on-site safety management and public order maintenance,' and 'safeguarding pharmaceutical supplies,' with no intention of deliberately concealing or infringing on consumers' personal privacy.
