(Kinmen, May 9, CNA reporter Wu Wen-rong) Kinmen National Park is holding its Traditional Kinmen House B&B Festival, featuring activities like village walking tours and stamp rallies. The Kinmen National Park Headquarters announced today that traditional Fujianese architecture within the park area has been revitalized into traditional house B&Bs and shops after renovation, and this event allows tourists to enter these traditional houses and discover the charm of Fujianese settlements.
The Kinmen National Park Management Office has been entrusting the private sector to operate traditional house B&Bs for over 20 years, after renovating and revitalizing Kinmen's traditional architecture. Following last year's launch of the "Ní Hó! Kinmen" Kinmen National Park Traditional House B&B Festival, the event is being held again this year.
Deputy Director Tsai Li-an of the Kinmen National Park Headquarters stated in his address at today's opening ceremony that Kinmen National Park was established in 1995, with one important goal being to preserve traditional architectural culture. Therefore, the National Park has invested significant budgets in renovating traditional buildings. "But after renovation, they are just shells," he said, emphasizing that there should be more ways to ensure the sustainable development of these buildings.
Tsai said that the Kinmen National Park Headquarters introduced B&B operations as part of the sustainable development of traditional architecture, and it has now entered its 21st year since the first traditional house B&B in 2005. The number of traditional house B&Bs has also grown from the original 15 to 80. The Traditional Kinmen House B&B Festival held today also hopes to promote the humanistic spirit and features of the settlements through village walking tours and other activities.
The Kinmen National Park Headquarters stated in a press release that this event includes "Village Walking Tours," where interpretive guides and B&B owners lead visitors through traditional houses, along with cheongsam experiences and tasting Cai Guo (traditional snacks).
The Kinmen National Park Headquarters noted that during May's B&B Month, nearly a hundred B&Bs and shops are offering discounts, allowing travelers to more deeply participate in Kinmen's daily life. Tourists who do not participate in the walking tours can join the "Village Walking Stamp Rally" activity from now until May 31. Completing tasks such as checking in and making designated purchases can redeem limited-edition gifts, and there are also weekly draws for "stay two nights, get one night free" offers. Detailed information can be found on the event's official website. (Edited by Chen Ren-hua) 1150509
