(Central News Agency reporter Wen Kuei-hsiang, Taipei, 8th) Former President Tsai Ing-wen stated today that May 8th is "World Ovarian Cancer Day," and she invites everyone to participate in the "Teal Ribbon Campaign" to care more for themselves and for the important women around them.
Tsai Ing-wen posted on Facebook today, stating that with Mother's Day approaching, she wants to talk about an often-overlooked but very important issue: women's health. May 8th is "World Ovarian Cancer Day," and ovarian cancer is often called the "silent killer" of women because its symptoms are not easily detected, and many patients are already in the middle to late stages when diagnosed.
She said that in recent years, much has been discussed about health, care, and resilience, but she still believes that a society that truly values women not only recognizes women's contributions in the family, workplace, or society but also is willing to prioritize women's health and needs.
Tsai Ing-wen stated that often, women are accustomed to taking care of others first, putting their own discomfort, fatigue, and warning signs last. Therefore, women need to remind each other to care for themselves; it is not selfishness but a responsibility.
She pointed out that the "Teal Ribbon" is an important symbol of World Ovarian Cancer Day. It represents awareness of the disease, and also companionship, understanding, and support for women's health. She invites everyone to participate in the "Teal Ribbon Campaign" to care more for themselves and for the important women around them, who could be mothers, daughters, partners, friends, or those who have silently cared for everyone in life. "Let's work together to make women's health no longer silent." (Editor: Zhai Si-chia) 1150508
