(Central News Agency reporter Lin Chang-shun, Taipei, 8th) The male owner, surnamed Xu, of a well-known cafe in Taipei's Datong District, is suspected of installing miniature cameras in the store to secretly film women's private images. The locations involved include guesthouses in other counties and cities, and even abroad, with over 20 victims. The Shilin District Prosecutors Office today indicted Xu on charges including obstruction of sexual privacy.

In June last year, multiple netizens posted on the social media platform Threads, stating: "Is there anywhere safe anymore? Even going to a cafe, using the restroom, you can be secretly filmed... What kind of qualification does this kind of owner have to run a business!" Some netizens also expressed regret, saying they felt something was off when they visited the cafe and should have warned their friends working there, regretting that this happened.

According to investigations by prosecutors and police, Xu allegedly used miniature cameras disguised as canned air fresheners and electric shavers, which had recording functions. He is suspected of illegally recording non-public activities or private body parts of female victims in cafes, rented residences, guesthouses in other counties and cities, and even in Tokyo, Japan, and Seoul, South Korea. These images were then uploaded and backed up to hard drives and other devices for reproduction, with over 20 victims.

In June last year, the Shilin District Prosecutors Office directed the Datong Precinct of the Taipei City Police Department to search the cafe and other locations. They seized mobile phones, iPads, laptops, memory cards, and secretly recorded sexual images stored in cloud drives, as well as miniature cameras. Prosecutors today concluded the investigation and indicted Xu on charges including obstruction of sexual privacy. (Editor: Lung Po-an) 1150508
