Taipei City, May 8 (CNA) Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an today addressed the suspected hidden pinhole camera case at Aierli Clinic, stating that the city has launched a two-week joint inspection campaign against hidden pinhole cameras in beauty clinics, sports venues, and saunas across the city. He emphasized that any violations found will be severely dealt with and no leniency will be shown.

He stated that the inspections are jointly carried out by the Taipei City Police Department, Department of Health, Department of Sports, and Department of Commerce. Once a violation is found, it will immediately enter the administrative penalty process and be transferred for legal action, ensuring the consumer rights and safety of all citizens.

According to the Department of Health, in addition to beauty clinics, unannounced inspections will also be conducted in beauty and slimming businesses and other venues where customers are easily exposed in private areas, to protect the privacy of citizens, especially women. If illegal activities such as hidden pinhole photography are discovered, penalties will be imposed in accordance with the Medical Care Act, the Taipei City Regulations for Preventing Pinhole Photography in Public Places, and the Taipei City Consumer Protection Autonomy Ordinance.
