Central News Agency (CNA), Taichung, May 8 - With the launch of Starlux Airlines'' Taichung-Tokyo route, the Taichung City Government''s Tourism and Travel Bureau will lead 23 travel industry businesses to Tokyo for a tourism promotion event from May 11 to 16. The event aims to showcase Taichung''s diverse tourism resources, including its food, accommodations, attractions, and shopping, highlighting the rich travel charm of Central Taiwan. Chen Mei-hsiu, Director of the Taichung City Government''s Tourism and Travel Bureau, stated in a press release today that Starlux Airlines has been actively developing routes from Taichung to Japan. It has already launched services to Kobe, Takamatsu, Okinawa, Miyako-jima, Kumamoto, and now Tokyo, providing more convenient international travel options for residents of Central Taiwan and boosting the region''s international tourist numbers. Chen mentioned that following the launch of the Kobe route last year, the Bureau held promotions in the Kansai region. This year, they are again partnering with Starlux to advance into the Tokyo market and cultivate the Japanese market. Japanese tourists tend to prefer natural landscapes, cultural experiences, culinary exploration, and in-depth travel. Central Taiwan''s diverse geography, year-round travel environment, rich cultural heritage, and unique cuisine align well with the travel preferences of Japanese visitors. The Bureau stated that the delegation to Japan will be led by Deputy Director Tsai Tsung-sheng and will include numerous Taichung-based tourism-related businesses, covering sectors such as accommodation, souvenirs, attractions, dining, and travel agencies, demonstrating Taichung''s comprehensive capacity for tourism reception.
