(Central News Agency reporter Chiu Tsu-yin, Taipei, 8th) To commemorate "519 White Terror Memory Day," the National Human Rights Museum (NHRM) will connect multiple sites of injustice across Taiwan on the 19th, leading the public on walking tours of historical sites to reflect on the future of democracy and human rights.

According to a press release issued by the NHRM today, a "519 White Terror Memory Day Ceremony" will be held at the auditorium of the Jingmei White Terror Memorial Park on the 19th. Families of political victims will be invited to share their life stories, and performing arts will be used to review the historical memories and trauma of the authoritarian era, paying the highest respect to the sacrifices.

The park will also simultaneously host a "Human Rights Market," inviting human rights organizations, groups, publishers, and cultural and historical workers to participate, bringing human rights issues into public life and expanding public understanding of diverse human rights.

In the evening, a commemorative concert will be held at the multi-functional hall of the Taipei Bioinnovation Park, featuring renowned violinist Hu Nai-yuan leading the Taiwan Connection String Quartet.

The NHRM will also launch multiple walking tour routes of sites of injustice, including "Walking Through the White Terror," which traces the last footsteps of political victim Dr. Kuo Hsiu-tsung; "Glimmer in the Iron Window," guided by political victim Chang Tse-chou, based on the diary of Wei-Li Girls' High School teacher Liang Ling-hui; and "Taiyuan Prison Historical Mini-Tour," guided by Kao Chin-lang.

From the 16th to the 18th, the "Political Victims and Families Return to the Island of Memory - Green Island" event will be held, commemorating the historical memory of the first large-scale transfer of political victims to the Green Island New Life Correction Center on May 17, 1951.

In addition, sensitive and correctional facilities that are usually not open to the public, including "Taiyuan Re-education Prison" (now the Taiyuan Prison of the Agency of Corrections, Ministry of Justice) and "Taiwan Provincial Production Education Experiment Institute" (now the New Taipei City Reserve Command), will also respond to the Memory Day event by offering special guided tours by appointment.
