(Central News Agency Reporter Su Mu-chun Taichung 8th Report) Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, who discussed the military procurement bill with Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Chairwoman Cheng Li-wen yesterday, stated today that the Legislative Yuan will vote on the matter, and she believes there will be a satisfactory outcome that reflects public opinion, and can also achieve regional security and seek peace.

Cheng Li-wen stated via Facebook that she had beef noodles with Lu Shiow-yen and fully exchanged opinions on important issues such as the military procurement bill and the year-end election. Lu Shiow-yen said earlier yesterday that government-to-government military procurements of approximately NT$800 billion to NT$900 billion could be placed in a special budget and prioritized for approval, while commercial procurements and commissioned manufacturing parts could be listed in the annual budget.

Lu Shiow-yen attended the topping-out ceremony for the new underground parking lot project at Beitun District's Dunhua Park this morning and was interviewed by the media. She stated that the Taiwanese people attach great importance to national security and have their own views. Everyone understands that the Taiwanese people hope to be good neighbors and seek peace, but at the same time, they also need to increase their defense capabilities. She believes that all parties and members of Congress should have received such feedback.

Regarding the number of consumer complaints received concerning the suspected pinhole camera incident at Aerli Clinic, Lu Shiow-yen stated that as of 8 AM this morning, over 290 consumer complaints had been received nationwide, with 37 of them in Taichung, and the number may still increase. However, Aerli claimed it could offer refunds but simultaneously demanded consumers waive their right to legal action, which is unacceptable.

She said that the Taichung City Government's Legal Affairs Bureau and Health Bureau would issue a formal notice to the two Taichung branches, stating that not only must refunds be given, but consumers cannot be asked to waive their right to legal action, and relevant documents cannot state that the company is exempt from liability or that consumers must waive their right to legal action.
