(Central News Agency reporter Pan Tzu-yu, Taipei, May 8) The National Development Council (NDC) is actively promoting the integration of local revitalization with corporate ESG. It has collaborated with the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) and the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) to include local revitalization examples in the 2026 ESG evaluation indicators. The NDC has also compiled three major co-creation models for corporate participation in local revitalization, such as deep local engagement and co-creation with core businesses, to assist companies in incorporating local actions into their sustainable management strategies.
The NDC today issued a press release stating that to deepen the substantive impact of local revitalization, it has actively guided companies in recent years to integrate local actions into their business strategies and to include local revitalization examples in the "2026 ESG Evaluation" indicators. In addition, it has summarized three representative cooperation models from successful practical cases to help companies incorporate local revitalization projects into their ESG strategies.
The NDC hopes that through these three representative cooperation models, it can provide clear pathways for corporate participation in local revitalization, systematically present social participation results, strengthen brand assets, and through collaboration with local teams, align with international sustainability standards, promote business model innovation, and transform sustainable actions into both social value and commercial benefits.
The NDC explained the three co-creation models: first, deep corporate engagement in local communities (accelerator type), where companies provide resources and professional empowerment. For example, Kinpo Electronics promotes the revival of the tea industry in Shenkeng, while E.SUN Bank provides financial empowerment.
Second, co-creation with core business (value integration type), which combines the advantages of a company's core business. For example, FamilyMart integrates migrant worker programs to facilitate cultural translation; Carrefour assists local brands in connecting with commercial channels to create a win-win situation.
Third, cross-domain integrated actions (ecosystem building type), which combines technology with local contexts. For example, VIVOTEK utilizes smart security technology to collaborate with public sectors and local teams to implement elderly-friendly care safety.
According to the NDC, companies can choose local issues such as low carbon, ecological conservation, elderly friendliness, and rural care to cooperate with local teams through these three co-creation models, serving as directions for ESG implementation.
In the future, the NDC will continue to act as a platform, driving companies to join local revitalization efforts through case sharing and mechanism design, continuously expanding corporate participation in local revitalization. (Edited by: Yang Lan-hsuan) 1150508
