(Central News Agency reporter Li Ya-Wen, Taipei, 8th) Interior Minister Liu Shih-fang's nephew, Yan Wen-chun, was dismissed from a Taiwanese company in mainland China. The Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) stated today that the Chinese Communist Party employs diverse means of cross-border suppression and political coercion against Taiwanese businesses and enterprises. It is estimated that similar incidents of forced political declarations will become more frequent, reminding that investing in mainland China carries risks.

The Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) held a background briefing this afternoon, hosted by Deputy Secretary-General Li Bao-wen.

Li Bao-wen stated that Yan Wen-chun's former employer, Rongtan, faced tax inspections and frozen accounts in mainland China, which is a major blow to any normally operating company. During this process, SEF maintained close contact with the individual and Rongtan, estimating that similar uncertain risks for doing business in mainland China will continue to exist in the future.

He said that mainland China's cross-border suppression and political coercion against Taiwanese businesses and enterprises are becoming increasingly diverse, and incidents of forced political declarations are likely to increase in the future. This is one of the reasons why government agencies continuously remind people that investing and operating in mainland China must be aware of political risks, as the business environment in mainland China is in an unstable state.

Li Bao-wen believes that China's targeted action this time precisely illustrates that the government across the strait is the biggest source of business uncertainty and political risk. Taiwan is a democratic, diverse, and open society where people express their free will and political stance through political donations, yet they are politically persecuted by the CCP. Such treatment is incomprehensible and unacceptable to Taiwanese society.

He emphasized that if Taiwanese businesses or enterprises encounter similar situations or difficulties in mainland China, they can report to SEF, which will do its best to assist in handling them. (Editor: Yang Sheng-Ju) 1150508
