(Central News Agency Reporter Tsao Ya-yen, Huang Hsu-sheng, New Taipei, 8th) The suspected voyeurism incidents in aesthetic medicine clinics continue to spread. New Taipei prosecutors and police today searched 5 branches of Kuang-Tze Clinic in New Taipei. It is understood that police found that smoke detectors had been removed in two Banqiao branches, but seized power cords, video cables, etc. The managers of the two Banqiao branches were taken in as witnesses. The investigation will proceed on charges including privacy infringement.
It was recently discovered that Airli Clinic was suspected of having pinhole cameras hidden in smoke detectors, leading to three individuals, including President Chang Ju-shan, being detained and prohibited from contact. New Taipei police received a tip-off early this morning that Kuang-Tze Clinic's Banqiao Qian-guan branch also had suspected voyeurism, and victims filed charges of privacy infringement and sexual privacy infringement.
Today, Banqiao Precinct reported to the prosecutor's office for command. Around 9 AM, police, accompanied by health bureau personnel, successively went to Kuang-Tze Aesthetic Clinic's Banqiao Qian-guan, Banqiao Zhongshan, Sanxia, Sanchong, and Xinzhuang branches for searches.
It is understood that when police inspected the Banqiao Qian-guan and Zhongshan branches, they found that smoke detectors had been removed, and no surveillance cameras were found. However, power cords, video cables, hard drives, membership data, and other items were seized. In the afternoon, the managers of the two branches were taken to the police station as witnesses to give statements, and the investigation will proceed on charges including privacy infringement.
Chen Run-chiu, Director of New Taipei City Government Health Bureau, stated in a joint interview this afternoon that inspections of Airli Clinic's New Taipei branches have been completed. The investigation into Kuang-Tze Clinic today is still ongoing by prosecutors, and details of the investigation cannot be disclosed. When the investigative progress by prosecutors and police concludes, administrative penalties will be imposed first if applicable.
Chen Run-chiu said that the city government will also conduct a two-week special inspection of aesthetic medicine clinics and sports facilities. The main purpose is to understand how their surveillance cameras operate, including those in public areas, and whether clinics have fulfilled their obligation to inform and obtain patient consent.
