The Chiayi County Fire Department today issued a news release stating that at around 6 PM on the 6th, they received a report that three Japanese tourists and one Taiwanese person had an accident while river tracing in a valley near Chashan Village, and one Japanese tourist was injured. Personnel were immediately dispatched to assist.

The fire department said that the injured Japanese man, about 52 years old, was conscious and suspected of having a fractured right leg. After fire personnel provided relevant first aid, they used ropes and other equipment to help the injured person get out of the predicament and ashore. He was subsequently sent to St. Martin De Porres Hospital by ambulance for treatment. The hospital stated that the injured person is currently hospitalized for treatment.
